XRP price jumped more than 5% today, on September 15, after news broke that the U.S. Senate will hold a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act, and that pushed XRP back above $1.4. The XRP rally chance now leans heavily on that vote, and the XRP price forecast splits into two fairly clear paths depending on how it goes. Clearing the XRP resistance above $1.7 looks realistic if the bill advances, while a rejection could send XRP back down toward $1.3.

The Senate vote needs at least 60 votes to move forward, and Senate Republicans are pushing hard for it, though they still need around six Democratic senators on board. Elizabeth Warren, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee, spoke out against the bill on Monday evening, arguing that it does not stop Trump from continuing to profit off crypto businesses. Senate Republicans, for their part, described their latest text this way.

The bill would place most decentralized digital asset transactions under the jurisdiction of the CFTC rather than the SEC, and that shift matters for XRP, a token that has spent years fighting SEC lawsuits over its securities status.
