Declining Odds for Clarity Act Passage Ahead of U.S. Senate Vote

The likelihood of the Clarity Act, a significant piece of cryptocurrency legislation, passing in the U.S. Senate has decreased ahead of a crucial vote scheduled for September 15. Current predictions on the Polymarket platform indicate that the odds of the bill being signed into law this year have dropped to 17%, down from 34%.

This decline follows reports that Senate Democrats have rejected a revised draft of the legislation, which aims to establish regulatory frameworks for digital assets. A key point of contention among Democratic lawmakers is the ethics provisions within the bill, particularly concerns about ensuring that politicians, including former President Donald Trump, do not benefit from cryptocurrency ventures.

The Senate vote is set for 2:15 p.m. Eastern time, and for the Clarity Act to pass, it would require support from at least seven Democratic senators, a scenario that currently appears unlikely. Should the vote fail, the legislation may be postponed until after the midterm congressional elections in November. Meanwhile, Bitcoin is trading at $76,900 U.S. as of September 15.
