ByteDance Appoints Kai Jiang to Lead Hong Kong Investment Team Focused on AI

ByteDance has appointed Kai Jiang, the former head of Coatue China, to lead its financial investment team in Hong Kong. Jiang will report directly to ByteDance's Chief Financial Officer, Gao Zhun. His previous experience includes overseeing investments in the Asian technology and consumer sectors at Coatue, where he was involved in notable projects such as Zhiye Bang, Kuaikan Manhua, and CertiK.

The company is shifting its investment strategy towards a more cautious approach, emphasizing returns and core sectors. Despite this change, ByteDance's financial investment operations remain active. Recent investments have been made in companies like Shengshu Technology, Yingmou Technology, and Ziwenti Robot, focusing on areas such as embodied intelligence, AI infrastructure, and 3D generation.

This strategic hiring and shift in investment focus are viewed as significant steps for ByteDance as it seeks to enhance its external investments in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
