CoinEx Exchange Announced It Will Cease Operations by December 2026

      • CoinEx has begun an orderly wind-down process.
      • Spot trading will end on September 29, and withdrawals will be available until December 22, 2026.
      • The exchange said all user assets are fully backed and available for withdrawal.

Crypto exchange CoinEx announced it is ceasing operations and gradually shutting down all services. The company cited a prolonged downturn in the crypto market, declining trading volumes and liquidity, and rising regulatory and compliance requirements in key jurisdictions.

CoinEx said it maintains an asset reserve ratio above 100%. According to the exchange, user assets are fully backed and will remain available for withdrawal.

      When Will CoinEx Stop Operating?

The shutdown process began on September 15, 2026. From that date, the exchange stopped new user registrations, referral commission and reward payouts, and switched futures markets to Reduce-Only mode. This means users can only close existing positions.

Also from September 15, CoinEx stopped accepting new orders and subscriptions for fiat services, margin trading, loans, Earn, staking, and strategic trading.

On September 22, the exchange will fully shut down all non-spot services. On the same day, it will stop accepting onchain deposits, except for CET deposits, which will remain available until September 29.

On September 29, CoinEx will halt spot trading. After that, the platform will begin processing assets other than USDT.

CoinEx will окончательно cease operations on December 22, 2026, at 02:00 UTC. Until then, users will be able to withdraw their assets.

What Will Happen to Users’ Assets?

CoinEx recommends not waiting until the last day to withdraw funds due to possible delays and congestion on blockchain networks. From 02:00 UTC on September 29, assets other than USDT will be processed depending on the availability of liquidity on external markets.

For assets with external liquidity, the exchange will sell them on external trading venues and convert them to USDT at the net sale price. The resulting USDT will be credited to users’ spot accounts.

If an asset has no liquidity on external markets, CoinEx will gradually delist it and discontinue support for the corresponding wallet. For holders of such assets, the exchange recommends withdrawing them to an external onchain wallet by September 29.

Users who want to receive their assets in their original form must withdraw them by 02:00 UTC on September 29.

      Futures and loans

On September 22, futures services will be fully discontinued. Open orders will be canceled, and any remaining positions will be force-settled by CoinEx at the index price.

New loans and extensions of existing ones have been suspended since September 15. Users must repay outstanding debt and manage collateral assets before the relevant services are shut down.

On September 22, unpaid loans will be liquidated by selling the collateral. The proceeds will first be used to repay the debt, and the remaining balance will be credited to the user’s account.

On the same day, Earn and Staking will also be discontinued. New subscriptions are already unavailable, and existing products will be centrally redeemed by CoinEx. The principal and accrued interest will be credited to spot accounts.

      The exchange token CET

From September 15 to 29, users will be able to sell CoinEx Token (CET) at a price of 0.005 USDT per token. The exchange said it will continuously place buy orders for CET/USDT at this price, and trading fees for the pair will be waived for this period.

After September 29, the redemption window will close. CET balances in users’ accounts will be automatically redeemed, and the resulting USDT will be credited to spot accounts.

At the same time, on September 29, CoinEx Smart Chain (CSC) and OneSwap will be discontinued. The cross-chain bridge will also be shut down simultaneously with the CSC shutdown.

After December 22, 2026, withdrawals will no longer be available. Unwithdrawn USDT will be transferred to independent custody. CoinEx said users will be able to apply for a refund via the exchange’s official email. Re-verification will be required.

Refund applications will be accepted until August 22, 2028. After that date, unclaimed assets will be disposed of or transferred in accordance with applicable law.

CoinEx separately noted that CoinEx Wallet and CoinEx Vault are not part of the exchange shutdown process. According to the company, these products are independent of the crypto exchange and will continue operating as usual under their own terms of service.

As a reminder, earlier experts uncovered a money laundering network operating through CoinEx.
