Wall Street Analysts Issue Upgrades and Downgrades Amid Market Turmoil

Major U.S. stock indices experienced declines on Tuesday, driven by escalating geopolitical tensions and rising oil prices. The Russell 2000 fell by 1.23%, while the Nasdaq and Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by 1.03% and 0.79%, respectively. The 30-year Treasury bond yield reached 5.27%, marking its highest level since 2007, as investors reacted to the turbulent market conditions.

In the midst of this volatility, several stocks received attention from analysts. Ally Financial was initiated with a Strong Buy rating by Raymond James, setting a target price of $55. GitLab was upgraded to Market Perform from Underperform at William Blair, while InterContinental Hotels Group saw its rating lifted to Buy from Neutral at UBS, with a new target price of $188. Conversely, EyePoint Pharmaceuticals faced a significant downgrade from TD Cowen, which cut its target price by 80% to $4.

The energy sector saw a boost as Brent Crude oil prices surged nearly 5% to $95 amid renewed conflict in the region. This uptick in oil prices contributed to the overall market decline, as rising costs impacted investor sentiment. Meanwhile, gold prices fell by 2.69% to $4,327, influenced by increasing interest rates and a stronger U.S. dollar.
