Aave Horizon to Introduce Neuberger Berman's High-Yield Fund

Aave Horizon is set to onboard the Neuberger Securitize High Income Tokenized Fund (HINC), marking the first below-investment-grade credit asset on the platform. Stani Kulechov, founder and CEO of Aave, announced a governance proposal to allow HINC to be used as supply-only collateral. Neuberger Berman, the asset manager behind HINC, manages approximately $230 billion in assets and aims to provide institutional investors with exposure to high-yield corporate bonds and collateralized loan obligations.

HINC requires a minimum investment of $100,000, targeting qualified institutional users rather than retail investors. If the proposal is approved, HINC holders will be able to borrow stablecoins such as USDC, GHO, and RLUSD against their fund positions. This development expands Aave Horizon's collateral offerings, which have primarily included treasuries and investment-grade instruments.

Aave Horizon is an institutional-grade lending protocol built on Ethereum, designed for qualified users to borrow stablecoins against tokenized real-world assets. The addition of HINC will allow the platform to venture into higher-yielding, riskier credit products. Furthermore, HINC is structured to operate across multiple blockchains, including Avalanche, Ethereum, Solana, and Sui, providing flexibility for institutional participants.

The supply-only designation for HINC means that while it can be used as collateral for borrowing or to earn yield, it cannot be borrowed by other users. This limitation is intended to mitigate risks associated with investing in below-investment-grade instruments, ensuring a more cautious approach to leverage and rehypothecation.
