Chinese AI Chip Manufacturers Increase Prices Amid HBM Shortages

Chinese AI chip manufacturers have raised prices significantly due to a shortage of high-bandwidth memory (HBM), as reported on September 10, 2026. Huawei has increased the price of its Ascend 950DT accelerator card to over 250,000 yuan, marking a rise of 20% to 50% compared to two months prior. Other companies, including Cambricon, have also raised prices, with the planned 690 chip seeing an increase of 20% to 30%.

The price hikes are attributed to U.S. export controls and the high costs associated with HBM supplies in the gray market. Additionally, earlier models from Huawei, such as the Ascend 950PR and 910C, have experienced price increases of approximately 30%. These developments are expected to elevate the construction costs of AI computing power in China, impacting the broader technology sector.

Despite the significant price adjustments, Huawei, Cambricon, and other affected companies have not provided comments regarding the situation. The ongoing challenges in the supply chain for high-bandwidth memory are likely to continue influencing the pricing strategies of AI chip manufacturers in the region.
