XPeng's Humanoid Robot IRON Set for Mass Production by Year-End

He Xiaopeng, Chairman of XPeng Inc., announced during the company's semi-annual financial report meeting that the humanoid robot named IRON is scheduled to begin mass production by the end of this year. The robot will be implemented in commercial scenarios within XPeng stores and parks, with a full launch aimed for 2027, targeting retail and service industries both in China and internationally.

XPeng's humanoid robot division has successfully raised over $900 million in its first round of financing, achieving a post-investment valuation exceeding $6.3 billion. The investment round was led by IDG, with significant contributions from Gao Rong Venture Capital, Tencent, and Alibaba, among others. He Xiaopeng, who has also taken on the role of CEO of the robotics business, emphasized the integration of automotive supply chains and advanced AI technology to facilitate the mass production of IRON.

He Xiaopeng highlighted the substantial technical challenges in developing advanced general-purpose robotics, estimating that the complexity is at least 20 times greater than that of smart cars. He anticipates that the revenue and gross profit from a single unit of the humanoid robot will surpass that of vehicles, which could significantly bolster funding for ongoing AI research and development. Meanwhile, XPeng's automotive division reported a revenue of 32.78 billion yuan in the first half of the year, with expectations to deliver between 115,000 and 121,000 vehicles in the third quarter.
