Surge in Stock Perpetual Trading Volume on Centralized Exchanges in 2026

In 2026, stock perpetual trading on centralized exchanges experienced a significant surge, with volumes increasing from approximately $15 billion in April to nearly $250 billion by July. This represents a remarkable 17-fold growth in just a few months, transforming stock perpetuals from a niche offering into one of the fastest-growing segments in cryptocurrency trading.

The peak trading volume for stock perpetuals reached $311 billion in June, marking a 57% increase from the previous month. This surge follows a period of minimal activity in late 2025, coinciding with the introduction of new products in the crypto market that mirror traditional finance offerings.

Binance has emerged as the dominant player in this market, capturing an estimated 70-80% market share. Other exchanges, such as Gate.io and Bitget, are also expanding their offerings to include stock perpetual products, aiming to attract traders seeking alternatives. The rise in popularity of these products is attributed to recent launches of perpetual contracts linked to well-known stocks and indices, alongside heightened interest in technology stocks spurred by events like the SpaceX IPO process.
